The 2025 joint Annual Conference of the New Zealand Fiji Business Council (NZFBC) and the Fiji New Zealand Business Council (FNZBC) took place in Auckland this September, bringing together government leaders, industry executives, and business stakeholders from both nations under the theme “Oceans Apart, Visions Aligned.”
The full-day event featured dynamic discussions covering key areas shaping the future of bilateral trade and investment, including:
-
Evolving economic and investment landscapes in New Zealand and Fiji
-
Reforms to support ease of doing business, digitalisation, taxation, and trade
-
Logistics and freight innovation across Pacific air, sea, and port systems
-
Workforce development, talent pathways, and Pacific leadership
-
Future-focused strategies for AI adoption and cybersecurity readiness

Senior leaders — including Hon. Manoa Kamikamica, Hon. Todd McClay, and Council Presidents Chandar Sen (NZFBC) and James Trusler (FNZBC) — reaffirmed a shared commitment to expanding economic cooperation. A key highlight was the united ambition to reach NZ$2 billion in two-way trade by 2030, signaling confidence in the next phase of partnership and growth.
The conference served as a powerful platform for strengthening commercial ties, exchanging insights, and advancing a collaborative vision for a resilient, innovative, and prosperous Pacific region.
